What are the advantages of PROGESTRONE BLOOD TESTING
The single most common cause of infertility in bitches is simply mistiming of mating.
This method of deciding when to mate should improve pregnancy rates
from around 70% to 95%.
This represents a huge saving in lost time and cost ,
generally maximising litter size as well.
Progesterone testing means more first time success
Progesterone is the hormone which is produced from the ovary of the bitch when she is ovulating , we can measure the progestrone levels and this tells us exactly whenit is ideal to mate
How does it work
A simple blood test is taken by a vet or a qualified person from about day 7 of being in season and then every second day until mating.
Inform your vet that you have purchased a canine breeding progestrone level testing kit,
to establish the optimal mating time for your bitch.
Your vet or vetinary nurse will take a 1.5ml blood sample at minimal cost
.
The blood sample is then returned to us in the test tubes provided in the kit.
How long do the results take
Once the blood test have been recieved by us , results are available within a few hours allowing optimal time to organise the stud or semen insemination.
Finally it is important to ensure the sire is fertile otherwise all the rest is pointless.
We can provide a semen assessment for fertility of the stud dog and would recommend all sires are assessed at least annually.
